United India Insurance Company is the top company in General insurance business in India. On 18 Feb 1938 it was established. However in India in 1972 General Insurance business was nationalized then United India Insurance Company was merged with twelve insurance companies of India, Indian operations of 5 Foreign Insurers, 4 Cooperative Insurance Societies, and southern region’s General Insurance operation of the Life Insurance Corporation of India. After nationalization it has progressed greatly and now it stands as the trustworthy company in an insurance sector.
In India one of the big companies is United India Insurance Company which has 20000 offices in all over the country. It covers about 1 crore policies under the insurance policy. It provides the insurance to numerous products from the insurance of bullock carts to the satellites. In 2006 its net income was approx 520 crore Rs. Inspite of the big brands such as GMR, Tirumala- Tirupati Devasthanam, ONGC and Mumbai International Airport Ltd. United India Insurance Company is also a pioneer of the insurance in the rural parts of India with Universal Health Insurance Programme of Govt of India, National Livestock Insurance, Tsunami Jan Bima Yojana in four states which has covered about 4.59 lakhs families, Vijaya Raji Janani Kalyan Yojana which has covered about 45 lakhs women of Madhya Pradesh and many more policies.
Credit Rating Agency and Investment Information has awarded United India Insurance Company by iAAA rating for 3 consecutive years for the strong financial strength and fundamental policies. In 2007 PCQuest has selected company’s MPLS VPN project as the best IT project whose details are published in June 2007 edition of PCQuest magazine. With new Micro offices it has made its presence in more than 200tier II and III cities and the villages.
