Shriram Life Insurance

It is a joint venture between the Chennai-based Shriram Group and the South African insurance major Sanlam.The company launched its operations in India in December 2005.

The Shriram Group is one of the largest financial services conglomerates in India with a strong network of over 65,000 agents and distribution network of more than 550 branches and is also thinking of establishing bancassurance alliances with couple of banks. The Group's has been providing various types of financial services since a long time and that includes chit fund, truck financing, consumer durable financing, stock broking, insurance broking and life insurance.

Sanlam Life Insurance Limited which is a part of the Sanlam Group was established in 1918 and is one of the largest providers of life insurance services in South Africa and has provided protection to over 3.2 million individual policy holders. It offers various range of finanacial services to its customers and that includes life insurance, retirement annuities, saving and investment products, personal loans, home loans and trust services.It has its business presence across South Africa, United Kingdom and Namibia and has shareholder funds in excess of USD 4.6 billion. It has over $48 billion of assets under its management.
