SBI Life Insurance is a joint venture between the State Bank Of India and Cardif SA of France.SBI has a stake of 74% and Cardif the remaining 26% in this joint venture.

State Bank of India has the largest banking franchise in India and along with its 7 Associate Banks has over 14500 branches spread all over the country which is probably the largest in all over the world.

In terms of creditor's insurance Cardif is ranked 2nd worldwide and provides protection to over 35 million policyholders with the net income of over Euro 1 billion. Cardif has been a pioneer in establishing bancassurance tie-ups and has very well adopted this art of selling insurance products to millions of customers in more than 35 more countries.
