National Insurance Company Ltd

In 1972 after passing General Insurance Business Nationalism Act, National Insurance Company Ltd became 1 of 4 subsidiaries of India’s General Insurance Corporation. In 1906 it was incorporated and in Kolkata it was registered. It is completely controlled and owned by Govt of India and continued the operation as General Insurance Corporation subsidiary till August 2002. On 7 august 2002 under General Insurance Business Amendment act, National Insurance Company Ltd linked from the holding company that is GIC and then began operating as the undertaking by the Govt of India.

In Kolkata, National Insurance Company Ltd has the head quarter. As one of top India’s insurance companies, it is effectively carrying the business of general insurance in India. The company has almost 1000 offices in all over the country that is from the rural and remote areas to the metropolitan cities. Domestic operation is controlled by Indian offices whereas foreign operation is controlled by the branch offices of Nepal.

National Insurance Company Ltd provides services to almost all sectors of Indian economy such as banking, shipping, oil and energy, plantations, tea, education, space research, environment, automobile, health care, foreign trade, agronomy, power, aviation, information technology, telecom and many more.
