Aviva Life Insurance Company India Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture between Aviva of UK and Dabur group of India.

Dabur is one of India's leading producer of traditional healthcare products.

Aviva`s history date back to 1696 and today it is is UK’s largest and the world’s fifth largest insurance group. It does a major of its businesses in Europe and elsewhere around the world and and is a leading provider of various category of life and pensions products to them. At present Aviva has around 40 million-customer base worldwide and has more than £364 billion of assets under management.

Aviva holds a 26 per cent stake in the joint venture and the Dabur group holds the balance 74 per cent share.

Aviva has been doing a substantial business right through its inception with the ever growing strong sales force and at current it has over 30,000 Financial Planning Advisers (FPAs).

Aviva has adopted a unique and innovative sales approach of doing business in the insurance sector and that is through the “Financial Health Check” (FHC) of the prospects.

Aviva has pioneered the concept of Bancassurance in the insurance sector of India. It has Bancassurance tie-ups with various banks all over the country. Some of them are ABN Amro Bank, American Express Bank, Canara Bank, Centurion Bank of Punjab, The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd. and Punjab & Sind Bank, 11 Co-operative Banks in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Maharashtra and one regional Bank in Sikkim.

Aviva has been doing substantial business through its large distribution network all over the country and curently has around 193 Branches (including rural branches).Aviva has been able to provide its services in more than 2,795 locations across India. through its Bancassurance partner locations which are spread across the country.

Aviva is also keen to serve the weaker sections of the society and provide security to them also and it has been able to do that through its association with Basix (a micro financial institution) and other NGOs.
